Hammond von Haldenstein is a magnificent 3 year old long haired German Shepherd with a calm, gentle nature. He quietly comes up for some attention, and enjoys hanging out with you, appreciating just being close & getting some pets. While some of our dogs boldly leap into new situations, He is more of a gentle soul. He appreciates the simple things in life, including being with his people, walking around the neighborhood, rolling in the grass or laying down in the shade. He walks beautifully on leash, staying by your side, and isn't fazed by dogs around him. When Hammond met a woman with some mobility issues and a cane, he walked so sweetly next to her and every few steps he would check in with her. In playgroups, he is  watchful at first but soon relaxes, greeting other dogs well and preferring calmer ones, avoiding those with too much energy or pushy play styles.
